East Cheshire Ramblers will be at the Rainow Church Fete on Saturday 11th July, and we’d love you to come along and say hello!
Whether you’re already a keen walker or simply curious about what we do, our friendly volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to chat about local walking opportunities, Ramblers membership, and the many benefits of exploring the countryside with others.
Discover Walking in East Cheshire
East Cheshire Ramblers organise a varied programme of walks throughout the year, ranging from gentle strolls through beautiful local landscapes to more challenging adventures across the Peak District and beyond.
🚶 Our walks need leaders. Could you help inspire the next adventure?
The fantastic walks enjoyed by our members are made possible by volunteers who give their time to lead them.
We’re always looking for enthusiastic members who would like to help lead walks and inspire others to enjoy the outdoors.
As a Walk Leader you’ll:
🥾 Gain new skills and confidence
🧭 Develop navigation and leadership experience
🤝 Meet like-minded people
🌄 Help others discover fantastic places to walk
Full training and support are provided, and you don’t need to be an expert to get started.

💧 Don’t wait until you’re thirsty – stay hydrated and enjoy every mile.
Whether you’re joining us for a short local stroll or a full day exploring the hills, staying hydrated is one of the simplest ways to stay safe and enjoy your walk.
💧 Drink regularly throughout your walk
💧 Carry enough water for the conditions
💧 Remember that warm weather increases fluid loss
💧 Rehydrate after your walk
Good hydration helps maintain energy levels, concentration and overall wellbeing on the trail.
Wherever your next adventure takes you, don’t forget your water bottle!
🕷️ A quick tick check after every walk can make a big difference.
As we enjoy the wonderful footpaths, moorland and countryside around East Cheshire and the Peak District, it’s important to remember that ticks can be active in long grass, bracken and heather.
Before heading out:
✅ Wear appropriate clothing
✅ Stay on clear paths where possible
✅ Carry a tick removal tool
After every walk:
🔍 Check yourself carefully for ticks
🔍 Check children and pets too
🔍 Remove any ticks promptly and correctly
A few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe and enjoying the outdoors.
